By far the best bar study course in Mississippi for
over 30 years
has been Mississippi Bar Review, the BAR/BRI Course in Mississippi. Its
successful approach to bar exam preparation combines the best lecturers
with complete, concise materials an an unwavering focus on how to
pass the Mississippi exam.
One day of the three-day Mississippi exam is the Multistate Bar Exam
(MBE), a multiple choice exam governed by the "majority law" (the law in
a majority of the states). The MBE represents 40% of your grade. Another half-day is the Multistate
Performance Test (MPT), "closed universe" practical problems with all
facts, case law and statutes supplied by the examiners. The remainder
of the Mississippi exam (comprising 45% of your grade) is one and
one-half days of essay examination, and Mississippi law is what the
examiners have said they want (i.e., it is the right answer) on both of
those days. The MBE subjects are also tested ("double tested") on the
essay exam, but on the essay days (including the half-day Multistate
Essay Exam) Mississippi law controls.
The Mississippi BAR/BRI Course covers the MBE and every subject and
part of the Mississippi exam in carefully crafted and up to date
lectures, outlines and practice testing materials, including outstanding
software. National coverage is given to Multistate subjects - and no
one knows the MBE better than BAR/BRI - with attention to the
majority rules, new trends, and Mississippi peculiarities (because of
"double testing"). Treatment of the non-MBE subjects - those tested
only on the essay portion of the exam - stresses Mississippi law.
(No other exam prep program covers Mississippi Law.) Comprehensive
lectures and subject outlines are devoted to every subject. Now,
without any extra cost, you get two supplemental, exam
technique courses that will smash the MBE and MPT: The BAR/BRI
Multistate Exam Workshop, and the MPT Workshop. In addition,
Mississippi Bar Review offers BAR/BRI's national review for the
Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE).
In its years of operation, the Mississippi BAR/BRI Course has helped
thousands pass the bar exam. Virtually all who have taken and
passed the exam in the last 30+ years trained with us. Based upon the years
for which data is available, OF THOSE FEW WHO TRY THE EXAM WITHOUT
MISSISSIPPI BAR/BRI, LESS THAN HALF WILL TYPICALLY PASS. THOSE WHO DO
TAKE THE COURSE HAVE ROUTINELY OUTPERFORMED THE OVERALL STATEWIDE PASS
RATE.
THE BAR/BRI
MULTISTATE EXAM WORKSHOP
In addition to the excellent multistate subject matter
instruction from BAR/BRI's experienced team of lecturers, as well
as the superb and easy-to-use software and materials, BAR/BRI
offers a 3-day course in MBE exam-taking tips and techniques.
The Multistate Exam Workshop, near the end of the Course, nails the
issues, demystifies nuances and lays out the most common tricks. In
three all-day sessions it calms your fears with the best analysis of the
real MBE ever devised. The workshop starts with a carefully designed,
realistic simulated multistate exam and then finishes up with two
full days of expert and comprehensible analysis of the exam you
have taken. In addition, you will receive computerized grading by
subject area so you can see where to focus your last minute emphasis.
NO EXTRA COST.
THE MULTISTATE
PERFORMANCE TEST WORKSHOP
Although the MPT, composed of tow 90-minute problems
with case file and "library," is still relatively new to Mississippi,
it's not new to BAR/BRI. This test is similar to those given for
several years in California, Colorado and Alaska, where Bar Bri has
prepared the vast majority of all performance test takers. We combine
comprehensive and extensive materials (including practice performance
tests) with exam-proven workshops designed to teach you how to manage
the excessive information and limited time of the performance test. NO
EXTRA COST.
THE LECTURERS
In addition to the BAR/BRI crew of experts on the MBE
(and certain uniform law subjects) - the very best in the nation
- Mississippi Bar Review presents a distinguished faculty on
Mississippi law:
Prof. Guthrie Abbott (State Court Practice; Property)
David W. Clark, Esq. (Federal Practice; Discovery)
Prof. John Czarnetzky (Bankruptcy; Corporations)
Prof. Debbie Bell (Domestic Relations)
James Higginbotham, Esq. (Worker's Compensation)
Prof. Wendell Holmes (Contracts)
Prof. Jeffrey Jackson (Ethics)
Jerry L. Patton, Esq. (Partnership; Agency)
Prof. Robert Weems (Evidence; Torts; Wills and Estates)
Amy Whitten, Esq. (Criminal Law and Procedure)
The lectures aren't Socratic; they're direct and to the point. They'll
tell you what the law is, what has been on past exams, and what's likely
to be on your exam.
THE MATERIALS
Every student receives updated Mississippi outlines and
testing materials, plus the same superlative Multistate outline and
testing volumes used in BAR/BRI courses in 50 states and D.C., including
the preeminent MBE subject outline volume, the Mini-Review for fine
tuning at the last, the Multistate Testing volume, Multistate Testing
Drills, and prized software available for download. And, of course, the
BAR/BRI MBE Workshop materials - over 2,200 MBE practice questions
and analytical answers. . .and the MPT Workbook. Not too much, not
too little.
